Don’t Make This Mistake
To me, this mistake is pretty funny. To people who have made this mistake, it most definitely is not because it wasted countless hours of their time, a lot of their energy, and possibly a lot of their money as well.
The mistake is this: creating a product and then finding people to buy it.
You
could get lucky and find people who want to buy your product. Or, you could find out the hard way that nobody wants your product.
Let’s say that you have a passion for cloud watching. You just love those clouds and you just love observing clouds in their
natural habitat. You spend all day just staring up at the sky with a pair of binoculars. You could rattle off the names of all the
types of clouds faster than I could say “cumulonimbus”.
People have always told you to pick a niche that you are interested
in or that you have a passion in. That way, they said, you would have an easier time creating content and you would be more motivated
to see your endeavours through. “Perfect”, you say, “I think I’ll write an ebook on cloud watching. I am very knowledgeable about
this topic and I could probably create a video course to go along with the ebook as well!”
So you happily get to work and within
a couple weeks, you’ve got a brand spanking new digital home study course on cloud watching consisting of a few PDFs and video training.
You start running some ads on Google Adwords. You start searching for cloud watching forums. You stick your cloud watching product
on ClickBank. You even join some JV communities and try recruiting some affiliates for your cloud watching product. Oooh, that one
looks like a turtle! Or maybe it looks more like an airplane... Oh wait, that’s just your dreams evaporating. And the lesson here
is: Find people who want to buy something and give it to them.
